Tribal Participant Information

Tribal Participant Information

Tribal Engagement

  • We are not actively recruiting American Indian/Alaskan Native participants at this time or on tribal lands.

  • We are in the process of consulting (getting on agendas to present) with local tribes.

  • We are also in the process of getting on the Inter-Tribal Council of Arizona (ITCA) Tribal Leaders meeting agenda to present our project to AZ tribes for feedback and input on tribal health research priorities.

  • We will also be planning upcoming information and listening sessions. Check back for dates and details.

AI/AN Participant Protection

  • Developing a data sharing agreement with tribes.

  • Creating an AI/AN Data Access Board to oversee and protect AI/AN participant data. This board will include AZ tribal leaders.

  • Creating an application process for researchers wanting access to AI/AN data (no tribal identifiers included). The application will go to the AI/AN Data Access Board for approval or denial. NO identifying information will be provided to researchers at any point.

Note

This is continually developing, please check back periodically for updates. It is our hope that this study will be a large-scale Community-Based Participatory Research Project and are committed to engaging with Tribes in a meaningful manner. We are following University of Arizona ABOR guidelines for tribal consultation. We will be planning a blessing ceremony, date to-be-determined.
